Scholastic databases for kids, educators, and curious learners

Scholastic Databases

Each month this year we are highlighting a database that is available free of charge with your Lyon County library card through our website. In January it was Creative Bug, in February it was Consumer Reports, and this month it is a set of six databases by Scholastic. If you like to learn, or if you teach children in a classroom, in a home school, or just as a grandma with your grands (like me), you should check these out. This post would be way too long if I tried to describe them all, so I will tell you to look at them and maybe start a list for yourself of things to learn or teach about. The six databases are called Watch and Learn Library, Book Flix, Scholastic Teachables, True Flix, Freedom Flix, and Science Flix. There are activities, books, videos, and resources for preschoolers through ninth graders in all the different school subjects. There are many, many offerings in Spanish, as well. In my brief perusal I learned about Frederick Douglass, dolphins, clouds, and found a craft project involving a movable paper horse.

You can access these databases, and a bunch more, by clicking on Services and then Databases on our website.  Happy exploring!
