September is Library Card Sign-Up Month. Had a card, but can't find it? During September, we'll replace it for free.

September is National Library Card Sign-Up Month

The American Library Association designates September each year as Library Card Sign-Up Month.  Although community members can sign-up for a library card at any point in the year, September is a great time to share all the amazing resources available with a library card.

Although we love books, both fiction and nonfiction, your Marshall-Lyon County Library Card can get you access to so much more!  Did you know that you can check out cake pans, cookie cutters, board games, puzzles, toys, DVDs, CDs, video games, World of Wonder science backpacks, book club kits, movie binge boxes, Memory Kits, and mobile Wi-Fi hotspots? Beyond the physical collection, your library card opens up a world of digital e-books, e-audiobooks, films, and how-to databases.  A library card is also needed for computer access in our buildings.

Think you may already have a library card but have lost it?  Marshall-Lyon County Library is waiving the $3 replacement fee for a new card during the month of September.  You must apply for a library card in person.  When you come in to one of the three MLCL library buildings you must bring a government-issued photo identification card and something with your current address on it (SMSU students should bring along their current SMSU ID card).  All ages are eligible for a library card.  Those under 16 years of age should bring a parent or fiscal guardian to sign for them. The type of card you get will depend upon where you live.  For more information visit: or stop in!
