Never placed a hold before?

1. Visit the Catalog

Start by visiting our online catalog at

2. Log in

Here, log in with your library card number and PIN/password. Your library card number is the number under the barcode on your card with no spaces. You set up your PIN/password when you got your card. Don’t remember it? Contact us!

3. Search for a book, movie, audiobook, etc.

We’ll discuss best practices for searching on our catalog in another tutorial.

4. Place your hold

Once you’ve found what you want to place on hold, locate the “Place hold” link. It’s underneath the information for the item in the search results, and it’s on the right side of the page on the item info page.

5. Choose settings and confirm holdThe pick-up location for your hold defaults to your home library, but you can change it here. You can also set a hold start date or a date when you want your hold to expire. This is good if you’re placing a lot of holds and don’t want all of the items to arrive at once. You can also edit these later if you change your mind.

Don’t forget to click Confirm hold!


If you get this message, none of the libraries that have that item are currently sending items to other libraries. This happens frequently with school libraries during the summer. We recommend going back a page and saving the book on a list so you can find it again later when holds are available.
