150 Years of Lyon County, MN
On August 12, 1870, Lyon County held its first Board of County Commissioners meeting. This year we’ll be celebrating Lyon County’s sesquicentennial, and events are planned all over the region. Keep an eye on lyoncountymn150.com for upcoming events and updates on the celebration.
In 2020, our Tech Study Room will become a Digitization Lab with equipment for digitizing family videos, cassette tapes, photos, and slides.
STORY COLLECTING KITS
We’re also preparing story collecting kits, designed to help you record audio and video interviews with family and fellow community members. We’ll have guides for best practices, but we’re also looking for volunteers to be trained and help us conduct interviews throughout the year. If you’re willing to be interviewed, be an interviewer, or have recommendations of events we
should attend to collect interviews, please contact us!
150TH ANNIVERSARY BOOK CLUB
In celebration of the sesquicentennial, the MLCL and the Marshall Adult Community Center are co-facilitating a Minnesota-themed book club. This group alternates its monthly meetings between the Marshall Library and the Marshall Adult Community Center. All community members are invited.
