A male figure, pose menacing, walks through a forest. Behind him, a burst of light casts him and the forest into shadow.

200th Anniversary of Frankenstein

I’m a big fan of National Public Radio’s “Science Friday”(Sci-Fri) program, and am very excited that they have a science book club that everyone is welcome to join.

Currently, they are reading Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein. Although published 200 years ago, the themes are still relevant today.

Check out Sci-Fri’s website: https://www.sciencefriday.com/segments/the-scifri-book-club-frankenstein/ for some great background information, and go to Frankenbook.org to read Frankenstein annotated by scientists,  plus several excellent essays related to modern scientific inquiry.

A wrap-up discussion with author Elizabeth Bear will be aired on Science Friday on Feb. 9th.
